Is SafeNav free?
Yes. SafeNav is free to download and use at launch, with no in-app purchases and no ads. If we ever introduce paid features, they will be optional and clearly labelled.
Does SafeNav work outside Australia?
At launch, SafeNav's safety analysis is tuned for left-hand-traffic Australia and uses Australia-only OpenStreetMap intersection data. The map will display overseas, but we can't guarantee the dangerous-turn detection works outside Australia and recommend other apps abroad.
How do I report a dangerous turn that SafeNav missed — or a route that felt wrong?
After you arrive at a destination, SafeNav may show an arrival feedback card. Tap thumbs-down and pick a category (e.g. "Wrong turn detected"). If you'd like to also share the origin, destination, and route shape so we can look at the exact route, tick "Include trip details" before submitting. That toggle is off by default every time, and we never remember your previous choice. You can also email feedback@safenav.com.au any time.
Does SafeNav use mobile data during navigation?
Yes. Map tiles, routes, and voice prompts stream from our map provider (Mapbox) in real time. A typical trip uses a few megabytes; there are no video ads or background uploads.
Why does SafeNav need background location?
So turn-by-turn guidance keeps working when your phone's screen turns off mid-drive or you briefly switch to another app. Background access stops when you end navigation.
How do I delete my saved places, search history, or past feedback?
Saved places and search history are stored only on your device (encrypted) and are removed when you delete the app. To delete feedback you submitted to our server, email feedback@safenav.com.au with an approximate submission time — we'll delete matching rows within 30 days. Because SafeNav has no user accounts, a rough time window is what we can search by.
Does SafeNav work on CarPlay?
CarPlay support is in review with Apple. Once the entitlement is approved and SafeNav is live on the App Store, CarPlay users will get the same safety-aware routing on the car's screen.
